This is a vanilla cake with raspberry chocolate ganache in the center and a vanilla bean buttercream.

I made the snowmen for the kids! They loved it and even wanted to eat their dinners so they could have some :)

30th Birthday Party

So one my best friends just turned 30, and every girl deserves a fabulous cake for her 30th Birthday. So I made her a Marie Antoinette style cake with roses and Cala Lilies and everything pink.

I made a three layer cake, two layers of Vanilla Bean with raspberry and chocolate ganache in the middle, and the middle layer was a lemon cake with lemon curd and raspberries in the middle and I covered it with pink vanilla buttercream.
It was so good, and we cut slices all the way through the three layers...that's how we roll on our 30th birthdays! :)

Some great pictures below!

Cookie Party -Drop in and Decorate-

I hosted a Cookie party with some great friends to help make cookies for a Party hosted by our Church. Heartlove Place Ministries is a great ministry for children and they threw a great Christmas party for the kids! So we had a ton of fun decorating cookies for the event!

WE decorated over 100 cookies for the kids. I made a combination of shortbread, sugar cookies and brown sugar spice!

Enjoy the pictures!

Here are the cookies I decorated and made for the invites for the cookie party!

Wedding Fever

Apparently October is the time to get married! Cupcake Carousel has been busy with weddings all month!

Below are some great shots we've taken!

Vanilla cupcakes with a hershey's kiss in the middle, and Chocolate cupcakes with Boston Creme in the middle. They also ordered cookies.

Don't you just love the bride and groom cupcakes at the top??

Mocha and Blueberry Cupcakes, with real lavender flowers!

I loved their cake topper! Silver balls seemingly floating on the cake!

Chocolate w/ Almond, Vanilla w/Coffee and Pumpkin with cream cheese! They were married at a garden, so we added flowers to their cupcakes!

Love their topper as well, I made tiny kissing love birds out of chocolate to match their topper and invitations.

Cookies!!!

I subscribe to a number of blogs, one of them being the incredibly creative How Does She?com.

She recently ran a post about the PERFECT Chocolate Chip Cookies. I have been on what seems a life long search for the said Perfect chocolate Chip Cookie recipe. And since I have tried so many, I can tell by the list of ingredients/quantity if I even want to try them out. And I did!

I'm glad I did, although I wouldn't classify it as necessarily my 100% never fail favourite cookie recipe, theses were incredibly good. Sort of crunchy on the bottom and chewy and yummy on the inside. They were delicious. Larry and I just had to snack on some last night with milk (and I don't even like milk!!).

Two thumbs up from us!!

New favourite cupcakes...

I made these for a very special 50th Birthday.

I made chocolate cupcakes and simply cut a hole in the middle and dig out some of the cupcake. Then I put a teaspoon of our homemade raspberry rhubarb Jam, then topped with delicious and perfectly shiny ganache. Then of course we add the frosting!! :) As if this cupcake couldn't get any better eh? I topped it off with our lovely Cream Cheese frosting and some chocolate shavings.

I actually got to eat one of these...yum!!

We're jammin we're jammin!!

That's right folks!! Jam! I love making all kinds of different things and one of those things is Jam!!!

I started making it last year when I made some wonderful shortbread (we all know I'm partial to shortbread) cookies. They were beautiful stars with a window and homemade jam behind it!

So we went to pick some raspberries with the kids one Sunday...and after desperately trying not to be eaten by mosquitos and as a result somewhat sweating to death... :) we made it home with 6 pints of Raspberries!! I also added some fresh rhubarb we had. This jam doesn't have any sugar, as I don't really feel like any is needed with fresh fruit bursting with juicy goodness.

I still have to wait about 10 more hours before they can officially be declared ready, but so far all lids have been sucked in!! :)

Keeping it simple

One of my absolute most favourite things about summer time is Smores. They are both tasty and slightly my nemesis, since I'm pretty sure I could eat 4 in one sitting...Anyways, I had some fresh raspberries on hand and decided to make a smore delight!

I microwaved (since I didn't have a campfire in my pocket) a marshmallow on a plate (that is an incredibly important step) for about 20-25 seconds until it started to expand. Then I pressed the raspberry in the middle and topped with chocolate and devoured it...or three...

Monsters!!

A coworker is having a baby boy pretty soon, and since she lives in California, and loves cake, what better present to make than cupcakes?! I called and asked her if she had a theme, and I was absolutely delighted when she sent me a picture of a sweatshirt that she and her husband bought that was a Monster theme!

So I baked her some chocolate cupcakes, and adorned them with the monster figures from his shirt! They're made out of rolled fondant.

Coach

A very good friend of mine was turning 30. And I think we can all agree that you can't just eat an ordinary cake on your 30th! You have to eat something incredibly exciting. She love purses and loves Coach. So I made her the pink Coach Poppy purse! Complete with her essentials spilling out including her Dooney and Burke Cell phone, lipsticks and MAC cosmetic and of course coins!!

She loved it, and so did all of her guests. The cake was a chocolate orange with a vanilla buttercream frosting.

Enjoy!

With Love,

Sarah

Peach Raspberry Crumble!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm so yummy, just the name of the post gets everyone excited eh?

Sorry it's been so long we were in a tiny accident. Luckily everyone was safe and okay, but it was an impact to the car, time and schedule!

But we still had time to make this deliciousness. I didn't really have a recipe, I kind of made it up as I went along. I cut up the peaches and mixed it with the raspberries and added just a little vanilla sugar since the fruit was perfect.

For the crumble I added some cold butter, 1/3 cup flour 1/2 cup oats and 1/3 cup of brown sugar all mixed together.

I placed everything in little ramekins and baked in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes.

Of course you must top with Vanilla Ice cream. Yes, you must! I promise! I read it somewhere!!!

Awoooooooooooooooooooo!

So we celebrated Father's day a little early in our house. And I decided to make Dad a wolf cake! He loves wolves.
I've never done a 3D figure before so I made some mistakes, but also learned a lot.

The cake was chocolate peanut butter, and so was the frosting.

He loved it and was so surprised. When I asked him if there was too much peanut butter in the cake he said "No, it sticks to the roof of my mouth, I love it!"

That means there is probably too much peanut butter for the rest of us!

Enjoy!

With Love,

Sarah

I even made eyelids for his eyes!! I need to get a better camera.

This wolf have been beefing up his legs like crazy!

Camping anyone?

Okay, so two of my favourite people (outside my family) kind of gave me the break I was waiting for.

They trusted me with baking and creating the cupcakes and cake for their wedding. Their wedding!! I had never done a wedding before, I was a little nervous but mostly determined to provide them with the absolute best cupcakes and cake they had ever tasted.

Last year around this time they did Lemon cupcakes which were so moist and dense and absolutely bursting with lemon flavour. I topped it off with my now semi famous cream cheese frosting in a Tiffany blue and edible glitter. The second was a chocolate cupcake with raspberries (one of my favs!) topped with a dark chocolate ganache and a sea shell (beach wedding theme) made out of blue fondant. For their original wedding cake I made a chocolate cake into a Tiffany ring box with a bow.

They are pretty traditional and wanted to save the wedding cake to have on their first anniversary, but do to unforeseen events it just wasn't possible. So they contacted me again to make their 1 year anniversary cake. I hope this becomes somewhat of a tradition!! This time they were going camping so they challenged me on how I could make a cake with a camping theme. As soon as they said it my mind started racing with ideas!

So I made a mocha cake with vanilla buttercream into a tent. I added a roaring fire, because what's camping without a fire. Added roasting marshmallows...because what's a fire without marshmallows? And even a little pond with a frog!

When her husband came to pick up the cake he was blown away! I love doing that.

Anyways, please enjoy my pictures and let me know if there are any questions!

With Love,

Sarah

Look at that roaring fire and those yummy marshmallows!!

I loved the frog. I used tiny Nonpareils for his eyes!

Lovely little scene!
